Privacy & Cookie Policy
Effective Date: September 2026
At Snapress, we aim to keep you informed about global events through automated news summaries, while respecting your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit our site, and how it is used.
1. Information We Collect
Snapress does not require account registration, login credentials, or personal contact information (such as your name, email, or address) to browse news summaries. We do not directly ask for or store personal identifying information about you.
However, like most websites, we use third-party tools (Google Analytics and Google AdSense) that may collect limited, anonymized technical information — such as your approximate location (city/country level), browser type, device type, and pages visited — to help us understand aggregate site usage and, once approved, to display advertising. Details on these tools are below.
3. Bookmarks (Saved Stories)
When you click “Save” on a story, its ID is stored locally in your browser’s storage (localStorage). This data stays on your device only — it is not sent to our servers and is not linked to any personal profile. It remains until you clear your browser data or remove it yourself. If we introduce account-based bookmarking in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.
4. Google Analytics & AdSense (Third-Party Vendors)
We use Google Analytics and (once approved) Google AdSense, which are operated by Google. These services may use cookies to understand site usage and, for AdSense, to serve relevant ads based on your visits to this and other sites:
- You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings.
- You can also manage third-party vendor cookie preferences via www.aboutads.info.
- Google’s own privacy practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Outbound Links to Original Sources
Our story summaries link to original reporting from third-party publishers (such as BBC, Reuters, Associated Press, TechCrunch, and others). Once you click through to an external site, that site’s own privacy policy and terms apply — we encourage you to review them.
6. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection law (such as the GDPR for EU/UK users, the CCPA for California residents, or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act) to know what data is processed about you and to request its deletion. Because Snapress does not maintain user accounts or personal profiles, we hold minimal data capable of being linked back to an individual. For any privacy-related request or question, contact us using the details below, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
7. Data Retention
Aggregate, anonymized Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ default retention settings. We do not separately store personal data beyond what Google Analytics and AdSense retain on our behalf.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our site or legal requirements evolve. Material changes will be reflected with an updated “Effective Date” above.
9. Contact Us
